The post was pretty long to include the details, but the pictures and captions tell quite a story. Feel free to just review those to get an idea of what type of establishment this is.

I am including pictures of the item that we were "given," I believe everyone should see the brace that cost a whopping $93!! I am also posting a picture of the Walmart version that cost me $14, and is currently on sale for $10.60!

This is the worst "doctors" office I have ever been to, and here is why. Everything seemed in order for the first visit, the doctor seemed ok and ordered an MRI on my husband's hand. They don't do MRI's there and it was going to be a week before the MRI was performed and we were rescheduled, so she said "if I give you this splint will you wear it?" He said yes, we took the thumb splint, paid our $40 copay and left. The little splint was so cheap it wasn't providing any support so we picked a nice one up from Walmart, it was $14. I told my husband that it's no big deal because the one they give is just a cheap one they get in bulk and this will be better anyway.
A week later we come back for the reading of the MRI and he was put in a cast. Again, nothing seemed wrong. I asked about a copay and they said no payment was due at the time and we left. When my husband returned to get reexamined and recast 3 weeks later they inform him that there is a $240 balance that needed to be paid today. That wasn't necessarily a problem, but he called me to let me know before he paid it. I said "well what's the balance for?" He handed the phone to the office assistant and she broke it down for me. Everything was pretty standard, they forgot to bill our previous copay of $40, $40 for this copay, $100 for the cast and then the kicker $60 for the cheap thumb split he was "given" for the week. Apparently this "gift" for ONE week while he got an MRI was a precious $93 brace and after insurance paid $32.30, we were on the hook for $60.70. I said I'm sorry but that is unacceptable. I'm not paying $60 for a thumb splint that he couldn't even use, and we had to replace with a one that, again, cost $14. I asked if we could wave the splint charge and then we would pay the remaining charges and have him recast. She said that her office manager would have to answer that and she would call me shortly. I was only 15 minutes away so I told my husband to just wait to go in and that I was on my way. The office manager called when I was 6 minutes from the office. She was incredibly rude on the phone and my husband said VERY rude to him in person. She said that "they couldn't wait to see him because they were going to lunch" I said I am literally 5 minutes from you and would like to resolve this before we accrue any more charges with your office, you can't wait 5 minutes? She said no and that "this is the way everyone does it" and "it won't be different anywhere else you go." Then she said again that they were going to lunch and he had to be seen or leave. So he left.

This "doctors office" is what is wrong with our health care system. I will be rescheduling with another facility on Monday, and better believe I will be asking about the cost of a thumb splint, and if "this is the way everyone does it."

Full disclosure, our doctor was Aimee Schimizzi, not Megan Wood, but the "lovely" staff serve both doctors.
